What's your holiday strategy? (Yes, already.)

What’s your strategy going into the holidays? How are you going to stay on track? Yes, I’m asking you this in October. Because if we’re going to be successful, we have to start planning now. Enter the Fall Fit Challenge.

There is a concept in movement called “how you start is how you finish”. It says that if you start a movement out of position, you can’t properly correct it in the middle of the movement and you’ll end up doing it incorrectly and worst case, you’ll get hurt. (This is why we spend so much time every single workout in the “prep” to make sure you know exactly how to start, perform and finish every movement.)

For me this concept totally applies to the holiday season. (Wait, what?) Although a completely different construct, the outcome is the same. If I start the holiday season slightly off my fitness regimen and not dialed into my nutrition, I completely fall off the wagon when the pumpkin spiced lattes and cookies show up. I finish the season a great big hot mess. Conversely, if I go in with a plan, meaningful goals, and a regimen, I’m like superwoman. I can pass on most of the bad stuff and make better decisions in service of finishing strong. How I start the holiday season, is how I finish.
