We aspire to have the best coaches in the business, which is why coach Lily has been a rockstar coach for us since day one. Outside of the studio she goes after anything she puts her mind to and we can’t wait for you to learn more about this go-getter.
You’re a trifecta of a rockstar coach, athlete, and lawyer. If you had to summarize your daily motivation into one sentence what would it be?
“There is no passion to be found playing small - in settling for a life that is less than the one you are capable of living.” ~ Nelson Mandela.
You have a pretty rigorous training background. What were you doing before Fly Feet?
I spent most of 2013-2018 training off and on for NPC bikini bodybuilding competitions. I competed in California, Iowa, Minnesota, Nebraska and at Nationals in Chicago! Certainly a test of mental toughness, balancing cardio, weight training, and the intense diet. But I learned so much about my physical and mental strength, and it really helped make me the person I am today. And the trophies and spray tan are fun!
What is your favorite workout to coach and what song are you blasting on the ipod?
I love coaching sprints! Being on the mic and coaching people through those intense moments is so fun for me. The heart of my playlists is heavy hitting EDM mixed with hip hop (loving MIC Drop, the Steve Aoki remix) and anything Lizzo!
Lily the lawyer… If you could be a lawyer on a hit TV show what one would it be?
I’ve actually never really watched lawyer shows, but I hear Mike from Suits is legit.
If you could trade careers with one other person who would it be, what would you do, and why?
Amal Clooney is serious goals (semi-celebrity lawyer who specializes in international law and human rights). I love being a lawyer, but how cool would that be? I went to law school because I wanted to work on human rights issues, so that would be a dream. On the flip side, I’d swap jobs with someone like Amy or Trista here at Fly Feet so I could pursue my passion for fitness every day (another dream!).
If you could live in another era when would it be?
Sixties. I’d post up in San Francisco (favorite city in the world) and just live my best life.
We hear you have a favorite band. What’s the band and how many concerts have you been to?
I may or may have seen Dave Matthews Band somewhere between 35 and 40 times. I’ve been going to their concerts across the country for more than 15 years, so going to their shows is like seeing old friends. My tattoo is a compilation of lyrics from different DMB songs - that’s commitment!
You ditched downtown living for the burbs with your fam! What’s your favorite thing about your new home?
Being so much closer to nature! Having dinner on the deck, listening to the trees, walking the dog....a nice change from the noisy bustle of living downtown.
Last, but not least. This or that:
Cyclones or Hawkeyes? Hawkeyes every day but I’m always happy to see Iowa State take a win since that’s my hometown.
Salty or sweet? Both at the same time! Ever put applesauce on a sandwich or raisins in your mashed potatoes? Thank me later.
Beer or wine? Red wine all day....I mean, on occasion.
Tread or shred? Shred, I love muscle!
Dog or cat? I’ll put it this way, there is no creature more perfect than my dog Gio.
Netflix or hulu? I’ll take Netflix.
Introvert or extrovert? For sure an extroverted introvert.
