Fly Feet Corey

Whether it’s the early morning classes or the evening, Cory makes fitness a lifestyle. Cory was involved in athletics from a young age and has picked up some new lifelong activities along the way. He says growing up athletics were a significant part of his life growing up. Family vacations did not consist of trips to Disney World but rather hockey tournaments in International Falls. He brings the same dedication to every workout as he did when he played football and hockey in college. He is always setting new goals and looking toward the future with fitness. Although intimidating in the studio, don't let the fast speeds and heavy weights fool you. He likes to unwind with a glass of wine just like everyone else.

Who is Cory?


I am a CPA and work as a Business Development Director at Salo. My job is a lot of fun! I love building relationships and helping people make some of their biggest careers decisions which is the core of my job.

I really enjoy being active and also love my morning coffee reading the paper. I downhill ski and play hockey in the winter, water ski, spend time at the lake and play golf in the summer.

What brought you to FlyFeet the first time?

My girlfriend aka co-burpee challenge winner, Molly, had been attending Fly Feet at the downtown studio for a few months before I joined her for a class. For about two weeks she called me right after every class out of breath but ecstatic about how great the class was. She was adamant I join her to see for myself. I attended the first class in Wayzata when the studio opened, found that same joy she did, and have been an active member ever since. I am very thankful to have her as a partner most days (except when she outruns me)!
 

 

John and Josh have been known to call you a “beast” and admire your strength. Tell us about your fitness journey.

I began competing in CrossFit about 3 years ago. I had a lot of fun and experienced success but found myself constantly battling injuries.  A more serious back injury last fall was the last straw and I decided to step back from CrossFit. I really enjoy competing, both with myself and others. Fly Feet gives me that avenue to compete and challenge myself, but more importantly gives me an excellent community and coaching staff who make it enjoyable to come to the studio every day.

 

What are your goals here at Fly Feet?
 

My long-term goal is to continue to improve my fitness and live a healthier life. Healthy means different things to everyone but most importantly I want to feel good and continue to see progress in my training capacity.

Short-term I want to push myself to a new limit every time I enter the studio. I find joy in challenging those limits and pushing past them. I truly believe we are all more capable than we think we are. If I have a number in mind before or during a workout I want to make sure I beat that. Just one time, by .1 mile or 1 rep, but I want to beat it.

If you could write your own FlyFeet workout, what would it look like?

40 minutes of dynamic mode... just kidding! 400 meter efforts on the tread with thrusters and burpees on the floor. Beginning of class would include a strength component like heavy floor press.

 What do you like to do to unwind?

 Sitting in my flannels with a glass of organic Pinot Noir!


What is your go to pump up jam?

Depends on the day but “Welcome to the Jungle”, “Turbulence” by Steve Aoki or “One” by Swedish House Mafia usually can get me in the zone regardless of my motivation level.

 

If you could be any animal, what would you pick and why?

 Lion. Courageous and who doesn’t want to have “a heart of a lion?”

Bacon, coffee, my fam - Molly, Luna our black lab and Sully our golden retriever
